I keep routines steady, respect independence, and I pay close attention to small changes in mood or health. I'm a spiritual, very compassionate, and empathetic caregiver. I like to pay attention to detail. I believe in schedule but understand when it can't be kept. My helping my great grandmother when I was a child has paved the way of caregiving for me. Ii have always been a caregiver by watching my Mom use her skill as an X-Ray technician to help her friends and family after working her hospital shift. She has always lead by doing without recognition. Helping others is a privilege not a burden. Later in life, I was referred to be a caretaker for Ms. Martha who really empowered me to serve and understand where the client is coming from. She was in a wheelchair and my role was to get her ready for the day while learning how she wanted to be served. By the end of our journey together, I was the receiver of her principles of love and integrity to others. She was the gift. My personal achievement: I am proud of myself for raising 1 daughter and two sons. They too are considerate of others by lending a hand and being respectful to everyone no matter if you are raised differently. They embrace different cultures and are excited to learn more about people's stories. Eye contact and speaking clearly demonstrates their sincere appreciation for the skill of communicating. Today, I learn from them about how to have courage to try something new and grow through it. Being uncomfortable is a good thing.
