hello, my name is Beatriz. I have been caring for 3 years now, I started off as a dietary aide, making meals for the residents in a facility. I then started my caring position after that and been doing in home caring and been a caregiver in facilities as well. I was working through agency so I would work in home and facilities at the same time. I am a very caring loving person, I always love to meet new people and get to know them. I do have a very strong heart and especially with my elders. I have token care of my grandpa for a while when I was growing up with my sibling and that is how I decided to become a full time caregiver for others as well. I fell in love with it and I continue to keep doing it.

I love helping people. I love hearing the stories they tell and all their accomplishments. I love walking in and saying hello and they are just happy to see you because you're there. The bond you create with people and getting to know them is what I most enjoy about this job. My most personal achievement was taking care of my husband and making sure he was well taken care all the way to the end, despite how hard it was to see him like that.

I started my caregiving career at the age of 12 when I started volunteering at a local nursing home. At the age of 19, I took the 120-hour course and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. I am still listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Registry under my maiden name; however, I have not followed up with continuing education, so I can only perform these duties in a non-federal facility or home. I have worked in nursing homes as well as worked in private home care. I have extensive experience in caring for people with dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. I have cared for younger adults who have special needs, but my main experience is in caring for the elderly. My philosophy is to treat the people under my care the same way I would want a loved one to be treated. I believe it is always possible to maintain dignity regardless of the help needed. I see people, not diagnoses. I am very intelligent and friendly and have an excellent sense of humor, which is so important in this kind of work! I am most interested in live-in home care for one family. I believe that continuity of care is extremely important for establishing trust. I find that it can be confusing and distressing for you or your loved one when there is a revolving door of caregivers. Also, I find that the loved ones of the person receiving care rest much easier when they have one point of contact. I would expect that there would be some respite hours on my behalf to avoid caregiver burnout; however, I would still be available if a respite worker couldn't come for his or her shift. Being a caregiver was instilled within myself from a young age. Growing up I had an elderly grandmother, in which I helped take care of. It just came naturally to me. I enjoy being a companion or a listening ear for her made me smile. So I have always looked at being a caregiver is just helping those who needed me. Making sure that ate or remembered to take the medications is vital for those who has limited mobility or early dementia or those that just need that extra reminder. I enjoy everything about being a caregiver.
