Hello! My name is Desiree and I have been caregiving professionally since 2008 beginning with my cousin with developmental disabilities. My first job after high school was housekeeping in nursing home and hospital and I always found myself trying to interact with the clients, whether it just be conversations or pushing them back to their rooms after meals. I have mostly worked in CILA homes taking care of the developmentally disabled and I absolutely enjoyed every moment and every prrsonality I ever met! Never a full moment, I began as a DSP and was a house manager for the same company. I have also worked some side jobs taking care of the elderly, a couple until they passed, and another until she just didn't need the extra help Amy more. I have wanted be a caregiver for as long as I can remember, I had a grandpa that had lost both legs, one due to a stroke and the other because of Gangrene. My grandmother need a lot of help with him from changing diapers to helping with feeding once he got a feeding tube, and I was always their! I don't feel like myself unless I'm helping someone else live their best life!

I'm a good listener, a hard worker, I'm a deep cleaner and you can depend on me! I love being a care giver because I get along better with my elders and they are all usually very kind and sweet. One achievement that I am proud of is that I've worked at doing care giving ever since the late nineties. I've been a caregiver since I was 19 and now I'm 44. I'm originally from Florida and moved to southern IL when I was 10. I have a pet cat and have my own apartment. I love taking trips to different places any chance I get and enjoy experiencing the outdoors.

I am specialize in All Heimers dementia Parkinson's I also deal with paraplegic patients adults I have also taken care of non-adults. My mom was ill for 12 months and I stayed with her every day in the hospital transferring from hospital to hospital and I wanted to do better for our elderly people because I seen the way they treated her and I didn't want someone else's mother or grandmother treated the same way. Giving our patients the companionship and not making them feel lonely. I am proud that I got my GED and it took me a long time but I went back to college and did a year of college to which I'm gonna go back and finish up my masters in cardiac echo grams.

I am a caregiver because I love people. There are not enough people to give care and attention to folks who need another set of strong yet gentle hands. I like to listen, talk and generally make people feel important and worth while. Caring giving is rewarding work. There was one resident in particular that was hard for CNA staff to get along with. She wasn't very friendly at first but I squatted down in front of her, and explained this was the job I chose to do because I love helping people. She could see I was sincere, and warmed up to me knowing she wasn't a burden to me, and I liked helping her. I am in my second semester of school for Respiratory Therapy. I am love being in my yard gardening. My first grandchild will be 1 year old this July 21st. I'm a pretty good cook and a tidy house keeper.

I love working with the elderly I've been doing it for about 3 years I love making sure I take care of everybody's needs and they are happy and pleased when I'm done taking care of them !
