I have been a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 3 years now. I've worked in nursing facilities, hospitals and home health. I enjoy working with patients, because not only are you being a great social and support system for them, but you're also giving them the care they need and deserve!

I am certifed as a home health aide and well as Cpr. I love to help others. I consider myself to be kind, punctual, reliable, compassionate, dedicated, and trustworthy. I started in the home care field shortly after my Father passed away at a young age of 42 with congestive heart failure. I received a cold phone call from a hospice nurse who rudely spoke to me that my father had died and she didn't know what I wanted to do about it. I wanted to go into home care and be a difference that showed compassion rather than harshness to not only those I care for but the families as well. I enjoy being able to help people be able to stay in their own homes and help with any needs they may have in order to do with respect and compassion.

I enjoy being a caregiver because it helps bring peace of mind to the individual and their family members as well. I enjoy knowing that I can bring some joy and normalcy to the individual that may not be capable of doing the basis daily needs.

My name is Andrea Sparks and I am a wife and mother of two daughters and one son. Helping others is something that I've always been passionate about. To me it is such a rewarding career being that not only do you get to know your patients well but also get to know their families as well. I have been working as a caregiver for over 15 years now. What made me want to be a CNA/ Caregiver, was when I was 16 my grandfather whom I was very close to had a massive stroke and ended up being paralyzed on the right side, he had to be placed into a LTC center even though we wanted to keep him at home. But it was when I visited him daily that I saw and realized what being a caregiver actually entailed. They were so good to him, and in turn he not only thought the World of them, but we all did to. This helped me to realize what I wanted to do when I grew up.

I have raised my three childrens. I am very proud of and I enjoy caring for others and feel that it's very rewarding.

Caregivers are all around us. But that doesn't mean they are all great caregivers. When it comes down to what separates the caregivers from the great caregivers there are some marked traits and work habits that stand out. Those who have experienced a great caregiver could make a list of what makes them great and sets them apart from the crowd. Working with people in a home care setting, it is essential that a caregiver feel the desire to want to help. By showing both empathy and compassion, I will let the person they are caring for know that they care about the person and want to do what they can to help them. When you work with someone who needs home care it is important that you are patient and understanding. It helps to sometimes put yourself in the other person's shoes and see what it might be like to ask people for help. A great caregiver is someone that can be counted on to be there. Most people who need home care services are in a vulnerable position. They are inviting someone into their home to be near their valuables. A good caregiver is someone who is trustworthy in this regard, as well as in being trusted to keep the client's information confidential.
