I became a caregiver because I love caring for others and I like knowing that I made a difference in someone's life. I am very proud of myself for becoming independent. I am very friendly, honest, a people person, and I am always smiling, even on my worst days. I have a great sense of humor and I also love anticipating the needs of others.

I am a reliable, energetic and friendly person with five years companion/caregiver experience in the New York metropolitan area. As a former communications lecturer, I find it natural to pivot to a companion job which requires a high degree of empathy and social interaction. I enjoyed taking care of elder family members and would like to help others in this way. I like older adults and I feel I can get along well with a variety of elders. I learned everything I can, I get creative when I have to, and I do my best. Caregiving is a huge personal accomplishment.

Over the years, I have worked in various roles where the need to work closely with other people, follow strict rules and procedures, and also getting a task done in a timely manner. I became interested in the healthcare field while serving as a missionary in Guatemala where I worked with poor people living in the mountains, garbage dumps, and street children hooked on glue. Many times after serving I would come home crying because of the plight of the people I served but I love reaching out to help others and served for four years. Here in New York City at one time I also worked with homeless people living in shelters and in the parks. I have worked in nursing homes in Florida and in homecare in New York City. I love being a caregiver, impacting humanity in a positive way as I help to improve and maintain health. Each and every individual that I serve is important to me and I treat him/her with respect, and dignity. I am a hard worker, patient, kind hearted, honest, and reliable. I attended college and the knowledge and skills I received in school have equipped me with the means to better care for clients. I have cared for clients on ventilator, G-tube feeding, trache, and foley catheter. I have assisted with meal preparation, laundry, and housekeep. I do not drive, I don't drink or use drugs. I love the company of Seniors because they have so much to offer, so much wisdom, and they are usually great fun to talk to, with many stories to tell!
