I started out caregiving when I took care of my grandmother and that was in 1986, she had pancreatic cancer she was such a trooper. To make my patients feel comfortable is number one whether a smile or running errands, doctors appointments, and always make them feel secure and respected In their life. I love to make them feel comfortable. My personal achievement is to make them happy and comfortable, to be that ear and listen to their stories. I feel that companionship is very important! I am a caring person and I also speak Spanish, Family oriented.
Skills & Certifications: Home Health Aide (HHA), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Medical Assistant (MA)
I've been a CNA for 15yrs & a Caregiver for over 30yrs. I love taking care of people; learning about peoples lives & encouraging them. I love doing Respite Care. I love to interact with pediatric, geriatric & babies.
I am a licensed CNA and currently working as a mentor to people with developmental and physical disabilities. When I was 12 years old my grandma was diagnosed with ALS and I helped care for her until she passed, that experience led me on to become a CNA and commit to helping those in need with every day living. I'm very open-minded and compassionate.
I have always wanted to help people with special needs; perhaps because I had a sibling who was born with severe disabilities, so I know first hand the difficulties and challenges faced by these individuals and their families. There was very little help available when I was a child, so we relied mainly on our family for the help and support we needed. Back then, there were no respite services or in-home caregiver services. You took your chances on finding a trustworthy stranger (if you could afford one). Now, it is very gratifying to me to be able to help other people who are dealing with illness or disability in any way I can.
I like to make jewelry and craft items, and I like to share those hobbies with my clients, if they're interested. Many of them seem to enjoy these activities and find them gratifying. I also love to read, and some clients enjoy being read to, which I also enjoy. I've been told I'm a good listener and a pretty good companion, as I can adapt to whatever my client is capable of and willing to do. I am experienced, caring, and am a retired social worker.
I have been in the health care / nursing field extensive amount of years along with experience, caring for individuals of all ages, mostly geriatrics. I started out as a nursing assistant and furthered my education to become an LVN, which i have known to be a "gift"/talent in helping other's. I find myself as a very responsible, reliable, motivated individual with strong communication and listening skills and committed to the highest quality of patient/client care. I believe that i am a warm-hearted, kind, friendly individual with an added sense of humor. Respect and concern are vital when dealing with geriatrics. In my opinion, those attributes make the difference between average care and superior care. I am confident to say that i do have the attributes vital for superior care. I will sum up with this attribute that is so true to me- "treat your patient's/clients the way that you want to be treated".
I believe in any job you pursue care giving included, you have to love it enough to do it for free if you could afford to do so. I believe what makes me a great caregiver is I'm patient, I'm a great motivator to do things they may not do for others they will do for me. I'm loving & kind, I take great pride in my position as a caregiver. People with any kind of disability I feel blessed that they have chosen me to walk this journey with them. It is not always easy yet together we will persevere. I am very proud of my work as a caregiver all the people I have worked for & with I stay in contact with their family's.
I have taken several classes on Alzheimer's & Dementia I do lots of research on any new clients disability to learn all about it so I can help them & possibly learn new ways to help.
I am reliable & trustworthy

I became a CNA at age 18 and worked in a nursing home for 2 years. I have over 10 years of experience in working with the elderly in various settings. I became a caregiver in April of 2009 to help my grandmother during her final days. I spent many days and nights helping her around the house, to move about and really got to see the importance of what I was doing for her. Being able to offer my heart, time and energy to help her with her daily routine was more than rewarding for me at the end of the day. I thank God everyday for molding me into a Caregiver, I want to continue my studies o become a Register Nurse someday.
