I started caring for both my parents but at different times when they were diagnosed with cancer yrs ago, my dad saw how I was with mom & from that time i also cared for him, he knew it was my calling & he was comfortable in my care. Then just within the past year I was able to care for my mother in law as well. I just feel compassionate about caring for others & it's such a rewarding experience everyday to know I'm making a difference in someone's life! I worked at St Vincent hospital as a patient safety assistance I kept my patients safe I assisted them with restroom duties, feeding, walking, I played games with them watched television I became their companion. I became a caregiver because my grandmother had cancer and I wanted to learn how to take care of her, she was a survivor for 40 year, I admired how the nurses and the patient care techs took care of her. So I wanted to give back. The best thing I love about this job is seeing the transformation of ones being. It brings joy to my heart to see someone smile and laugh.
