I work in the Wellness and health side of healthcare and love connecting with others. I have taught senior fitness for over 15 years. I recently lost my mother in 2021 and spent a decade helping to care for her throughout her illnesses. I believe social relationships and engaging with seniors plays a huge role in their care and well-being.

I'm very outgoing. I'm a big problem solver. I warm up to people fast, but it takes me a little while at first. I realized I wanted to get into the healthcare field right after my grandpa died. I remember how I used to try and help my grandma take care of him all the time. I wish we could've kept him at home but it was too hard on my grandma. I wish back then we knew about home health care services. My favorite thing about what I do is how much time I get to spend with my clients. Since its all one-on-one I get to enjoy their company more so than I would if I were working in a facility taking care of 15 patients rather than 1. Some of their stories are so interesting, especially the ones when they talk about history and being in wars. There is just so much to learn from the elderly.

The thing that attracts me most to being a caregiver, is knowing that you have the ability to make someone's life better. I think it is crucial to not only provide cares, but to be caring. I've always been an empathetic, hardworking, kind individual, and I love the idea of using those personal traits to help benefit others.

Hello there! My name is Lori, and I recently retired from teaching and became a part-time, remote proofreader for a publishing company. Since there was still plenty of time during the day to take on a second job, I decided I'd also like to be a caregiver. I helped take care of my father, who had Parkinson's for almost 20 years before passing away. My mother started showing signs of dementia shortly after his passing. I helped take care of her until she moved to Des Moines where she now gets full-time care. I enjoy seeing Mom on the weekends but also like visiting and helping her neighbors in memory care. They are appreciative and always happy to have a visitor, which in turn makes me happy! They helped me discover that I was missing something in my retired life: directly helping people who truly need it. I'm dependable, honest, and a hard worker with an outgoing personality.
