I have been doing Caregiver work since I myself fully recovered from a massive job stroke. I've worked with Agencies, at an Assisted Living place where I was paid CNA rates based on my own life experiences. Worked as a Personal Private Caregiver through personal references. I find being a Caregiver to be a very rewarding experience.
What makes me a great caregiver is the fact that I have a big heart. I am willing to help others and care for them. Not only am I doing my job, but I create a bond with my clients, it is more than just a job. Being there to comfort them and hands-on when needed. What attracted me to being a caregiver is growing up I watched my grandfather need the help. I enjoyed being there for him to the point where he felt comfortable enough to be in the state he was in. The most exciting part of being a caregiver is creating that bond with my clients to the point where they want me to come back. It is not always about being there for just the job and them needing help , I like being open to them and more like a friend then an employee. I am proud of helping others. I know that with my ability to be there for others good things will come upon me.
I am very patient and gentle,I always adapt to new situation and condition. I am not a perfect being but I love to learn and I accept corrections . I am humble, respectful and trustworthy. I have been a caregiver for 3years now and still counting it has been interesting for me doing this job and I feel amazingly joyful helping seniors. I enjoy the fact that most seniors I have worked for have never given a bad report about me and the smile and comfort they show when I work with them.
I take care of the client with Respect and Dignity. Treat them as my own. I go the extra mile to exceed not just to meet the clients expectations. When the company that I worked for had closed down a friend of mine introduced me to care giving. I learned a lot from different people about food, cultures, traditions through care giving. I am proud that through care giving I earned my Associate's Degree in Business Management.

Helping others makes me feel worthy and appreciated.
Being able to empathize allows me to put myself in the patient's shoes, and identify and ease the patient's fears or discomfort. Patience and flexibility. There'll be many hurdles along the way-the patient is being stubborn and uncooperative, the schedule doesn't go as planned, or difficult situations arise. I will find a way to deal with this in a positive way. Having a good sense of humor. Is a good indicator that I would be able to tolerate and deal with difficult situations, which is essential because caregiving involves conditions that more people would find hard or challenging.
A little about myself, I received my certified nursing assistant certification in the year 2000. In my years of experience. I have worked in the hospital setting in oncology, med surg, oorthopedic, and telemetry units. In the nursing home setting I have worked in med surg, dementia (locked and unlocked) units. As well as a facility for children with disabilities. For the last six years I have worked in a home care setting. My first Home Care client was an older gentleman on dialysis. I stayed with him less than a year, because he decided to stop dialysis and let nature take its course. He then became a hospice client. I stayed with him until the end of his life. And attended his viewing to pay my respects. I can provide his wife and daughters number for references. After he passed away I was hired for my recent lady Miss Maxine (God Rest her soul).A little about her, she was a diabetic female with advanced stage macular degeneration, early-stage dementia and limited Mobility. I helped manage her medication as well as her diet. Her son and I kept her insulin scale balanced. I was with her for 4 years, she passed away a few weeks ago. I can provide you with her son's contact information to get more insight on the care I give.
