I was a registered nurse for 25 years. I believe in treating each client in a holistic manner, and in communicating with him/her as a person, not as the condition for which he/she is receiving services. I am a very caring, passionate person! The PATIENT ALWAYS COMES FIRST! I have been taking care of patients for 8 years now! I am 61 years old and I am old school! I don't believe in rushing because that is when you make mistakes! Take your time with your patients and care for them like you would want to be cared for when you get older. Or if they were your loved one! Let them know that you can be trusted. Keep them safe and their home safe from falls. Wash their face, comb their hair, brush their teeth, etc....make them feel good and refreshed! Respect their religion and ask questions! Listen to them and pay attention to what they are telling you. Respect them and their home! I love helping others that have a hard time helping themselves. It's rewarding to me and it comes from my HEART! I have helped my whole family who have passed in their home with cancer, heart problems, Parkinson's disease, and not one went to a nursing home! This is why I became a CNA! It gave me such gratitude and made me feel good to see them smile at me everyday for making them feel good! When I walk through a patients front door I walk into Their home! With a smile on my face leaving my problems behind me! It's all about the PATIENT! The Patient Always Comes First!!
