My name is Jane I'm 54 years old. Recently retired from UPS in Naples Fl. I've been married for over 26 years had 2 children. I took care of my first born when he was diagnosed with Cancer until he passed away when he was 5. My daughter is 18 and attended Appalachian State. My husband works at Avery tire , retired as well after 30 years at his own shop. We are full time here in Avery County for about 5 years now. I've found my home here. As we have been coming here since 1997. Our son was diagnosed at Sloop Memorial in Crossnore which is now a Children's home. I love to garden and some wood working. I am a huge animal lover.

I have been a certified nurse assistant for almost 8 years and I love it. I never dread work and I always find myself smiling. I love caring for people and having them look at me with trust. I have 2 beautiful children who count on only me and they are also proud of what I do.

What attracted me to be a caregiver is the need for more community outreach. To be able to help residents in my community who fall under our "underserved" population to educate and help them better understand the help that they are entitled to!!

A personal achievement I am most proud of is being awarded Employee of the Year by the ETSU College of Nursing.

I've always enjoyed caring for the needs of others. Which started at a young age assisting family members with all different disease's/disorders . Also was a live in care giver to a lovely lady for 3yrs and at the age of 101 it was amazing to sit a listen to all of her life struggles and accomplishment's. Perform light housekeeping duties and meal preparation. Administer medications following doctor's instructions. Help patients complete prescribed therapy and exercise routines. Remove safety hazards and report issues to management and/or family.
