I became a caregiver because I did not want to work in main stream Healthcare anymore. My passion is helping seniors the way they and their family's want to be cared for without Healthcare systems making the choices for their care. I worked as a physical therapy assistant for 27 years. The last 8 were in a rehabilitation department at a skilled nursing facility. I have enjoyed the last 9 years doing private home care as a caregiver. Helping individuals live their lives with dignity, safety and loving care.

I started out caregiving while caring for my grandmother about 15 years ago. The time we spent together was a wonderful bonding experience and I wanted to continue with that feeling of accomplishment I get when helping someone and knowing I am making a positive difference in their lives.

My greatest passion is people. Seeing them connect with others and helping them reach their greatest potential whatever season of life they may be experiencing. Family connections are very important to me. Being a mother of five daughters and grandmother to many grandchildren, I see the vital role of family connections, friendships and personal interactions which are needed to create a healthy environment. One special moment I facilitated, was to invite the local editor of the newspaper to interview my current veteran client on his 90th birthday. I had also organized his two best friends who are veterans, and also turning 90 in the same month to attend. It was a privilege to hear their stories and help capture this unique moment.

I possess 20 years of Direct Support and thoroughly enjoyed that position as it afforded me the opportunity to put my caregiving and compassion into motion. I became a caregiver because of the enjoyment I get from helping others. Patience and understanding are high on my priority list as well as punctuality and being a Team Player. I first started caregiving when I was 17. My first job was for glorias helping hands. At first i wasnt sure about how i felt about the type of work. I didnt have much experience as to what i was doing. I took some classes and got my rcs1 and crma first. Rcs1 is a residential care specialist and a CRMA is a certified residential medical assistant. As i learned more and worked more I realized that is was my passion to help others who may need some assistance in things they can no longer do. Honestly u really do have to have a passion for this type of work because u never know what could happen or what situation u may end up in. And some of the disabilities, and some health issues can be challenging. Ive been very lucky to continue and have worked and learned various disabilities, as well as illnesses. Today i have my rcs1, pss,cna, and also insulin certified, cpr certified, and first aid certified. I love knowing that I'm making a difference and im helping and am there for someone who needs some support and help in their life.

I am deeply committed to treating all of my clients and families with dignity and respect. My goal is to win the trust , and help alleviate any embarrassment or anxiety when needing assistance with bathing, toileting, grooming, or other personal care. I strive to make a difference in the lives of my clients. I am very out going, friendly, honest , and dependable.

I am a very compassionate person with a drive to make everyone smile and feel cared for! I first started as a caregiver back in 2009 and fell in love with being able to help people. I then developed my career into working with adults and children with developmental disabilities and behavioral disorders. I am certified as both a DSP and BHP.
