I became a HHA because my mother became ill,she needed someone to assist her as she became older. I went to school to become a LPN because I wanted to make sure that I was taking care of my mother the best I could. She had cancer and when she passed away at home I knew I wanted to be there for people that need help not just their physically but emotionally as well. I believe this is my calling.

Since 2009 I have been a in home care aide, CNA at several nursing homes and a PCA in the hospital where I drew blood and did daily care for patients. I like to take care of kids & the Elderly. I have experience in taking care of both. I took care of kids for the past 5 years & before that I took care of my niece who was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes, mother-in-law who was older in her 80's, & she also had Cancer. I also took care of my husband who was in his 60's & was also diagnosed with Cancer. What attracted me to being a caregiver was when my niece got diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes & she lived with me so I helped her out. Then my mother-in-law got sick & I stepped in cause she didn't trust, or want anybody else to care for her so I did it. Then my husband got sick & I took care of him until he passed. & Then I started babysitting for a friend who has 5 kids & I did that for the past 5 years. What I enjoy about being a caregiver is the way I can help them out & be able to care for them, even though it was hard losing my mother-in-law & husband, I still enjoy caring for others. A personal achievement I am proud of is taking care of my Husband up until he passed & he knew that I was able to do it for him.
