I became a caregiver in order to care for my grandparents. I love old people... I always have, they are always thankful for any help they get and I'm very good at helping. I love my profession and I'm very good at my job! I have been trained how to give proper care in many different situations.

I became a caregiver because my aunt was diagnosed with a brain disease. At a young age I began taking care of her. I made her meals, helped bathe her and made sure she took her medication. Once I hit my teenage years my great grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia. It was me responsibility to take care of her after school until bed time. This is when I truly fell in love with care taking. My dad then graduated from college and became an Executive Director or retirement communities. My family used to visit him and work. The communities he has worked for have had an incredible impact on myself. In my early 20's I worked in an assisted living community and took care of a quadriplegic man. My passion only grew as the years weld went on. I truly have a passion for caretaking and getting to know people.

I am good at listening and doing what is asked of me to the best of my ability, as well and seeing what needs to be done and doing it efficiently and effectively. I understand what the patient and the family are going through and help ease the difficulties of caring for most conditions of illness and aging for both patient and family members. I became a caregiver after seeing how a family member was treated at a local facility so learned everything I could about the caregiving field and how best to help the patient with dignity and respect. Working as an on call caregiver I have those I take care of ask if I would be the full time caregiver. Because I was also a Dietary Manager taking care of nutrition, hydration, and choices is as important as anything else. It doesn't matter how much care a patient gets, if they don't eat, they don't recover well.

I love being a Caregiver ! I worked in corporate America selling HP and IBM Computers for twenty plus years until my dear father suffered a heart attack. A few days later, I left my job to help my mom care for him. Shortly after he died, my beloved mom suffered a massive stroke and I cared for her for 9 years until her passing 3 years ago. I realized shortly after she passed that care giving was what I wanted to do as career. Currently, I love working alongside my clients, helping them accomplish their goals and having them feel a sense of happiness !
