I have about 20 years of health care experience as a CNA, home health aide, patient care assistant, resident assistant, and my last adventure was as an RN with a hospice organization in Florida. My passion is caring for others. Even as a young girl, I was very attentive toward others needs. I have always put my heart in my work and cared for my patients and clientele, as if they were family. I am very considerate and respectful of others things, personal spaces, likes and dislikes. I easily adapt to personal preferences, as I understand that we all have them. My job is to assist one, to complete their daily activities, as if they were able to do it themself. I enjoy being an uplifting and fun individual. I am a lover of the outdoors, so if one may enjoy trips outdoors, I am more than willing to accomadate. I enjoy bringing a smile to someone's face and a little light into their darkness. I love animals as well, so light animal care is fine with me as well. I am very organized and like to keep my spaces neat and clean. Hello. My name is Toria Gilewala. I have worked within the healthcare industry for over 15 years as a CNA, Direct Support Professional, and Case Manager. I have a strong passion for helping others, and would describe myself, as an advocate for marginalized populations, ambitious, caring, versatile, and hard-working. I became attracted to caregiving after completing a CNA course and clinical rotation (at a local hospital) during my senior year of high school. This experience had a lasting impact on my life, prompting me to work and pursue college degrees within the healthcare industry. My previous work experience consists of working in home health care, hospital, nursing home, and community health center settings, where patient's individual needs varied. The most enjoyable part of being a caregiver is helping to make a difference in the life of others, from different walks of life. A personal achievement I am most proud of is being awarded Employee of the Year by the ETSU College of Nursing.

I pride myself on providing warm, understanding and patient care for our seniors. My passion stems from volunteering at a nursing home and seeing first hand the lack of empathy for our elders. I believe in respect and lending a helping hand so our seniors can hang onto to their independence and dignity.

I am compassionate, caring, and understanding. I am very outgoing and can hold a conversation, but I also know when to just sit and be a companion. I enjoy providing care for those who cannot care for themselves and I take pride in the fact that I have the ability to do so. I care for others as I would want others to care for a member of my family. What attracted me to being a caregiver was when my mother wasn't able to care for herself, (which ironically gives me most of the expertise I have in caregiving). My mother had a motorcycle accident in 2012 which inabled her from most daily activity. On top of that she developed many medical ailments (cataracts, diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, incontinence, etc.). I cared for her until her passing in February of 2020. I enjoy the personal familiarity of caring for someone in their home environment. Being able to get to know them and their family on a personal level. Although it can be heartbreaking at times, it also brings a warmth and special bond and I believe that ecah bond is a personal achievement and those are all things that I am proud of.
