I was a pediatric ophthalmology specialist in Canada; when we were transferred to the USA, I began a food manufacturing company. A friend approached me in 2015 to ask if I would help with their mum who was near vegetative status due to progressing dementia and being alone. Four months later, this beautiful Lady was walking, singing, dancing, and cooking with me - one of the most self-gratifying endeavors of my life. Now living in the beautiful hill country, retirement is not satisfying - I do volunteer at the VA hospital just to see these heroes smile, laugh & have someone to listen to them... and of course plenty of hugs! I would treasure being able to help another person find enjoyment in life.
