I began my fascination with healthcare as a child. I would polish my grandmother's white nursing shoes for her in the mornings as she was getting ready for work. She worked as a CNA at a nursing home in Lexington, VA. I remember looking at her and thinking I want to be just like her when I grow up. So as an adult I received my LPN and worked 18 years in Critical Care roles as well as skilled nursing home units in Roanoke and Martinsville to honor her memory. I've spent most of my life taking care of people because that is my passion and what I'm most proud of.

As I proceeded to get older and seeing the old or young in need of help it made my heart ache for them. I enjoy listening to their stories of the past, reading to them, playing games to keep their minds sharp, or just getting them out of the house for a walk or running errands. I believe that everyone wants to stay as independent as possible when they age, so being there for moral support or help with everyday tasks is essential to their state of mind.

I am a nursing student and certified nursing assistant. I used to work at a nursing home and now work at Carilion NRV part time. So if you need someone to be a companion or caregiver part time, I believe that I'm the right choice! I have always loved helping people. In 2004 my father n law call asked me would like to care and watch for his brother n law he wasn't doing to good in health wise, his wife was a school teacher, couldn't do it alone, they had a nurse also who would come and do there duties to. I'd watch as she did her job to get a few pointers and learn different skills. As I went to work every day I started to love my job more the bonding and listening to the clients you learn so much seeing the glow on there faces and smile gives you reassure that everything is good ok..when he passed I continue on making caregiving my career it's my passion I love it and wouldn't trade it for the world..
