My name is Jessica and I am a caregiver. I am a loving and caring person and very easy to get along with. I love to laugh, smile, and talk and I'm also a good listener. I became a Nurse Assistant at the age of 18. I love being a caregiver, I learned a lot over the years. Being a caregiver over the years has been nothing short of amazing for me. I enjoy what I do, it makes me feel good knowing I can help someone in need or just caring for someone. I have experience working in nursing facilities, in home care, retirement facilities and group homes. I love to try new things but being a caregiver is where I fit most.

The qualities that help me with elderly care are being energetic, compassionate and understanding. I was an activities assistant for a nursing home. I was often a companion to many residents. I enjoyed sitting with residents. We watched their favorite shows, read magazines, played games, etc. I love the connection I had with my residents. I also enjoyed the humor and carefree spirit of my residents. I had several achievements while working with residents. My favorite was of a lady that didn't like being around anyone. I began to visit her and she slowly began responding. After several weeks, we became friends and I would sit and talk about her family. One day, I invited her to Bingo and she accepted. She truly enjoyed it and I was so happy!

Caring for others has been a lifelong passion of mine! I'm happiest when helping others, so I find this field of work very rewarding in many ways. I grew up watching my mother learn and be a great nurse so she is definitely my inspiration. What I enjoy most is definitely just making a difference, being able to be there and insert patience and understanding in a situation of discomfort. Many don't understand how hard it can be to accept help when you have always helped others yourself, that's the role of a caregiver.
