I have been caregiving for the last almost 13 years. I started my caregiving journey young helping take care of family. Once I started my own family I took care of my mother-in-law for a while. After that I began working in facilities and Adult family homes. I currently have all of my CBRF certifications required by the state of Wisconsin. Which is my standard precautions, first aid/choking, medication administration, and fire safety. I will love and care for your family member as they are my own family member!!

Hey there, My name is Melody DeGrave and I live in Green Bay. I am currently a Certified Medical Assistant/LPN. I previously worked as a CNA for 7 years in Nursing homes, assisted living facilities, Rehab facilities and Disabled homes. I have been a nurse for 5 years at Aurora Healthcare working as a float nurse in OB/GYN, behavioral health, pediatrics, family practice and internal medicine. I recently started a new position with St Elizabeth hospital in the heart and lung unit. I previously took care of a paraplegic man in his home for 3 years with a hoyer lift. I would go to his home every morning before work and give him a shower/ get him ready for the day and give him any meds or apply any topicals he may have needed. I loved doing this, I am capable and I am more than willing to help where help is needed. I currently work Monday-Thursday 830:430. I would be willing to help any times outside of those hours. I am a very caring and compassionate person. I love making people feel valued and respected. All to often family members leave their loved ones in a nursing home and never look back. I feel it important to spend your last year's of life 2ith a purpose and value. I specialize in hospice care and I have training in all spectrums of care from mild to severe. I have dementia training. My primary goal is to leave a person feeling value and appreciation. I always love to hear someone's life story I feel they become part of me and my hope is they can live on through me in some way.

What makes me a great caregiver is that im in it and there for them. I got a big kind loving heart and enjoy spending quality time with them. I like to make them feel as their quality of life still has a meaning and just cause their age my prevent them from doing things as they did before it doesnt mean that that there life has stopped or aging has to be a sad time in their life and that it should be the best and most enjoyable time in their life. I come from a family of different ranking nurses with big hearts and know from the age of 8 that, that was my calling in life when my grandmother who also became my only mother i knew fell ill of leukemia which took her from me very fast and who i soon fell to caring for getting needles and shots and other such things to prolong her life i wanted and learned how to do this. The ongoing process of many hospitals everyday after school i lost what most kids had but to me it was worth every last miniute being able to spend them with her. To me this is my way of keeping her alive knowing that helping them and having understanding of them listening and laughing to me if i can do that then i make their lives that much better

I started care giving when I was 15 years old when I started helping take care of numerous people in my family. I didn't fully start care giving on a professional level until I was 18 years old. I really do enjoy care giving , I always have. Being able to help someone with something they are no longer able to do themselves , or just even being able to make someone's day better with my help or just by my company, makes me happy.
