I became a caregiver as a young child. Helping my cousin, Brian, who had Downs Syndrome, overcome fears and succeed made me deeply happy. I worked my way through college as a live-in caregiver, and relived the joy I had as a young girl helping Brian love life. If I had to give one reason that sets me apart as a caregiver, it is this -- love making others feel safe, content, happy, and challenged. By that, I mean motivated to overcome problems and feel hopeful once again. Overall, I have been caregiving for 15+ years (except for the 20 years I taught school), and I give God the credit for placing the love and compassion in my heart for those who are suffering. I'm very outgoing loving caregiver, I love elderly and children. I am a huge animal lover and I love to build relationships with my clients and treating them as my family. My attraction to becoming a caregiver began when my Opa was diagnosed with Alzheimer and dementia, I took care of him and grew love for the field and became very attached to everyone that I took care of. Hello! My name is Apolonia and I am currently working fulltime as a CNA at Clearview in Juneau, WI. I started the nursing assistant program back in 2009 in my senior year of high school and became certified in 2010 shortly after my son was born. However, my first job working with elderly was as an activity aide for the Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center in Waupun. I really enjoyed being able to get the residents out of their rooms to share laughs, reminisce about the good old days, and to just be there for them when they needed someone to talk to. After a year, I decided that I wanted to pursue working as a nursing assistant, so I obtained a position with Century Oaks Assisted Living Center in Oshkosh. Yes, it was a long commute from Waupun everyday, but I absolutely loved it. I started when the second building opened, so not only was I a new cna but I was working in an environment that was entirely brand new and we all grew together. We had an amazing team of people and it never felt like going to work. We just became like family. In 2014, the company was bought out by Capital Senior Living and I stayed working for about a year and then decided it was time to take the next step. So I applied to Clearview because it was closer to home and I now have a more consistent routine for my son. I plan to stay working for Clearview fulltime, but I am looking to take on a possible part time, temporary position or even be on call certain days. Either way, I am definitely looking forward to caring for your loved one!
