Hello, My name is Paula Scarcelli. I've lived here raising my daughter in Portland, Oregon for 19 years. I am a caregiver and medical assistant. I am very proud to have achieved this goal at 46 years of age. I am very grateful for the support of my family in this endeavor. I did my externship at the Samaritan Women's Clinic and I really loved the ladies I worked with there. Since I graduated from my MA program I have found that I prefer to work with people one on one in their home to make a difference for them and their families. This way you or your family member can have the attention deserved as opposed to the rushed feel of a doctors office. I feel more fulfilled in the long run as well. The larger corporations are more about the profits then the patients and I am not. I became a medical assistant to make a difference and to help others and that is what I am seeking to do! I love people and I work well with the elderly and disabled because of my background with both. I love people, travel, music and I am extremely empathetic. I am a lover of the arts and enjoy my own hobbies in the arts. I work with both male and female. Hope to hear from you soon. I have trouble with this app on my phone. It is best to text me directly 503.933.3412. Thank you.

I started with the State of California taking certification classes to help someone needing double hip replacements and couldn't walk and was recovering from breast cancer. Today, she is a walking survivor! Next I joined Phoenix Health Care and took classes on immobile patients such as transferring and changing bedding. I was sent to several different situations including a hospice patient. My last position was with an elderly woman in her home that had several serious issues, one of which was COPD. It became a joyful experience when, after working with her diet and routines, that she actually became symptom free and actually wanted to participate in activities again. Caregiving became a lifestyle for me and I was honored to be able to help in any way that was needed because I could.

My name is Paul. In Hebrew, that name means "small, humble". I'm 6'4", and I always thought that the meaning "small" was silly, but I have learned that the other definition, "humble", is the true nature of my name. Growing up on a family farm in Pennsylvania, I learned the values of community, legacy, and respect. Whether it was serving food at a church potluck, shoveling snow from a neighbor's driveway, or selling Christmas trees to the local community, my background has centered around serving others. When I first began caregiving, it was of necessity. I found a living situation with a woman who needed assistance recovering from a long-term mental injury. Since that time, I want to be a caregiver in a more structured setting. The benefits of a relationship with an elder individual are far reaching, and I have appreciated the opportunity to connect across generational and situational differences. I feel like my best self when I am able to be a support for others, especially those who can't support themselves.
