I became a caregiver almost 10 years ago. When I started as a nurse's assistant it was pretty much the only career/job that I could find, due to living in a small town. I knew nothing, but with time I gained all the experience, knowledge, to rotate throughout the hospital. In all sections; the Emergency Department, Long-Term Care, & more. I loved it... What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the way I feel about myself and my life at the end of a shift. I feel good about myself. I love feeling like someone really needs me. I like the satisfaction of knowing that I am appreciated for helping those who can't help themselves. Even if it's the simplest thing. An achievement that I am most proud of is; I beat Cancer 2x. Once with surgery& treatment & this last go-round surgery only. Since I went through that I feel like I can understand the clients/residents on a whole other level. I'm proud of me though, if I can beat a deadly illness such as Cancer, I can achieve ANYTHING.. I am a caring individual who is honest, energetic, and making people smile. I'm a hard worker who has great work ethics.
