My clients become my friends. We talk about our lives, families, troubles and joys. I'm cheerful and reliable and for some reason people think I'm funny. I enjoy gardening, cooking, reading and watching science and nature television.

My late Grandmother lived in Michigan, and we were extremely close despite being so far apart. By deciding to become a caregiver, I feel that what I do for the elderly is as if I am doing the same for her. My favorite thing about this field is that caring for the elderly keeps her spirit alive in me on a daily basis. I have worked for two years in assisted living and memory care. I have developed lasting relationships with co-workers and those I have served. I feel that becoming an independent caregiver will allow me even more opportunity to develop one-on-one relationships and devote my full attention to those who elect my services. My personality lends itself to this work in that I am gently persuasive and understand the value of patience. While working in assisted living, I have been given tasks such as bathing residents who consistently refuse help. I have met such obstacles with success because even the most obstinate seem to yield to my attentive ear and sustained patience. One of my achievements while serving in assisted living was becoming lead trainer and attaining a quick promotion from the position of caregiver to medical technician. To provide a peak into my personal life, I enjoy cooking and writing. As a college graduate and former college basketball player, I naturally enjoy challenging work and a wide range of sports. I look forward to launching this new step in my career as a caregiver.
