I have been a private paraprofessional for one autistic student during his 2nd grade through 6th grade classes. I attend classes with him at a private Christian school. I help teach him academic and social skills to become more independent. I took him to his PT twice a week for two years then, once a week and now he attends different classes for exercise, agility and strength building. I have become a part of his family and have cared for him in his home during times his mother needed assistance and just to visit as we are like family. He has developed the ability to work independently but still needs guidance when returning or going to his fathers home. So, my hours will be reduced to only 10 hours a week. I will not be available Monday's (all day) and Friday afternoon's. I know this may be TMI about my current position, however; I could be a very good fit for your needs. My brothers and I cared for all of our family members as their needs changed. My mother and grandmother both suffered with dementia and were vibrant women. I am from a compassionate Midwest farm family with interests (and experience) of plants, animals and the importance of staying active and enjoying life.
