I started my career in caregiver 6 years ago in a small memory care. I first started working in the facility as a server and was promoted due to my great work with the residents. I was responsible for assisting in all activities of daily life such as toileting, meal prep, dressing, and bathing. The people I cared for had Alzheimer's, Dementia, and even some other brain disorders such as Posterior cortical atrophy. There were bed ridden residents, wheel chair bound residents, and residents with other limited activity. I created and carried out all activities which included arts and crafts, exercise, cook ing, reading, and much more. After 3 years at the memory care, I transferred over to a different assisted living facility. There I assisted in all activities of life as well, but attended to much more housekeeping duties such as bed linen change, laundry, and general clean up. Here I took care of residents with Parkinsons, MS, colostomy, Ostomy, and diabetes(insulin shots and blood sugar checks). I trained in proper medication administration and know how to administer all medication. ... more
