I have worked as a caregiver for over 10 years now. As a caregiver, I always felt a strong connection with and empathy for my patients since I also have aging parents and an 83 year old aunt who is like a mom to me and who has kidney failure due to her diabetes. Taking care of the elderly helps to remind me of how fragile life can be and how much one should treasure each day as a gift and live it to the fullest. As a former classroom teacher and a mother of four, taking care of others has become second nature to me and taking care of the most vulnerable such as the elderly takes on a higher purpose when I think of their families who are unable to take care of their loved ones personally and who desire to still do so through carefully chosen caregivers. I am especially proud of my daughter who is now a medical doctor and who became such while I was supporting her through medical school with my caregiving jobs when there were no other jobs that were readily available. Friends and family find me a very smart and caring person, warm and personable and easy to get along with, reliable and trustworthy and very devoted to my family.
