I have always enjoyed helping people, I come from a family of caregivers. My grandmother was an lvn and worked in the convalescent hospital for as long as I can remember my first job was in that same hospital where I worked every summer all through high school until I was 18

I started out as a CNA when I was 16 years old in a convalescent home, I was in the Army from 1975 to 1978. I used the GI Bill to become an LVN. I've worked in LTC, rehabilitation and acute care settings. you name it I've probably done it. My father was a minister and my Mom always wanted to be a nurse, however she kept busy being a ministers wife, I took care of both of them in their last days. I now prefer to take care of people in their homes, which I believe is the ideal setting and much less stressful.

I Am a very honest fun loving Caring Lady, I enjoy putting that smile on everyone's face, I have always been very interested in learning all about my patients life and experiences I find it to be very fascinating, I went into the nursing field because I love caring for the elderly. I enjoy most about being a caregiver when I see the smile on my patients face as I walk into the door, I love talking about their life and their family history, the patient is the most important. My personal achievement was when I was caring for a gentleman in San Jose he had just had a major back surgery they glued his nerves together so he was pretty much paralyzed when i started caring for him, the doctors told him that he would not walk again, well I was with him for almost a year in a half I did physcial therapy with him every single day we went on walks etc.. I am very proud to say this gentleman is walking, dancing and driving he is now 82 years of age..

I am 25 years old, I have been a caregiver for a span of 4 years so far! Everything about being a caregiver is so important to me, from the tidy housekeeping, to companionship and client support is all crucial to me. I have patience, and time management, I love to be friendly and carry a conversation, I feel that a client isn't just a "client" they are someones mom or dad, sister or brother, daughter or son, they have a life, a story behind the care they need, and as a caregiver I enjoy being the support that families can have not just for the individual needing care, but for the family to feel safe with me as their caregiver.
