I am compassionate, caring, and understanding. I am very outgoing and can hold a conversation, but I also know when to just sit and be a companion. I enjoy providing care for those who cannot care for themselves and I take pride in the fact that I have the ability to do so. I care for others as I would want others to care for a member of my family. What attracted me to being a caregiver was when my mother wasn't able to care for herself, (which ironically gives me most of the expertise I have in caregiving). My mother had a motorcycle accident in 2012 which inabled her from most daily activity. On top of that she developed many medical ailments (cataracts, diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, incontinence, etc.). I cared for her until her passing in February of 2020. I enjoy the personal familiarity of caring for someone in their home environment. Being able to get to know them and their family on a personal level. Although it can be heartbreaking at times, it also brings a warmth and special bond and I believe that ecah bond is a personal achievement and those are all things that I am proud of.

When something needs to be done, I'll be the first on the job. I started out taking care of my grandmother at a young age. After she passed, I moved to where I now currently have a veteran neighbor whom I help when needed. I was employed by a family on weekends for a gentleman with dementia for almost a year up until his passing. I have many years of experience with Caregiving , elderly and youth. Also, I like to keep things clean and neat when at someone's home. Labor work doesn't bother me at all. If it needs to be done, I can do it. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, and errands are expected and easily done.

I have worked in home health and in a nursing home I have learned you need to be patience and understanding of your residents. I have seen I have always loved helping others with whatever they need. I became a caregiver at a young age, at 15 I began sitting with a lady while her husband would go out of town. And ever since then care giving has been a passion of mine. I love the stories they tell of their lives. I love being able to care for them and show them love. One of my biggest accomplishments is when I found myself taking care of a lady who seemed to hate everyone around her and didn't want me there to help her. So as I'd go in each morning it was a struggle, But I was determined that it was her illness that caused her to be this way and eventually she came to love me and my company. The staff at the facility where she was living were shocked that she had changed so much because of me and having someone there with her to help her.
