"Simple act of caring creates endless ripple" is the motto I live by, and the reason and aspiration of becoming an excellent nurse. Being a nurse is about giving and serving, having experienced both in my past, I have the heart for becoming a nurse. With God's inspiration I achieved religious identity, vocational identity soon followed. In2011 I decided to start serving the nation and joined the United States Army as a Combat Medic. I spent 1 year in the Emergency Room, and a further 2 years in a Family Care Clinic in a military hospital. I gained a lot of nursing skills and knowledge that would be so helpful in my future career, and more importantly, I had the chance to experience the tough life of being a nurse. During my military career, I served for long hours, 14 hours a day and 7 days a week since I was both a soldier and a medic. Nonetheless, I was successful in handling a steady and heavy flow of patients; I can have blood drawn from 30 patients and give them intravenous injection consecutively without taking any breaks in between. Being a soldier also meant I am very disciplined, always on-time and diligent for my work. My hard work was recognized and I had received the Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Certificate of Achievement from the Army. Having experienced the toughness required for being a nurse, I am ever more dedicated to serving. In 2015, after finishing my military contract, I returned to school for future education. Even though I left the front-line of a nurse, I was still active in the medical field, I volunteered in a local hospital, Alhambra Hospital Medical Center every Saturday to keep refreshing my nursing skills. I also volunteered for charities, such as Big Sunday to give back to the community, because I am alway in gratitude that my surrounding community helped me to stand up
