Heartfelt Home Care Services

This job was with a younger couple, 65 years old, both needing care. The husband was recovering from foot surgery due to diabetes and ending up going to a transitional care center. I took his wife to visit him almost daily. She needed to be pushed in a wheel chair as she was recovering from a fall she had taken earlier in the year. I took her to beauty appointments, doctor appointments, grocery shopping, drugstore shopping, and out to lunch. I prepared her food or picked it up from a restaurant and managed her medications. Before he went into the facility, I was doing the same for him along with taking him to do a doctor in Templeton, dentist appointments, and chemotherapy. He also needed to be off of his foot and in a wheelchair. His foot had a vacuum pump on it. I did laundry, changed linens, cleaned the cat's litter box, took out the trash, and watered the plants.

While going to college, I worked for an in-home senior care service. I had 3 clients ranging in needs and abilities. I also cared for my Grandmother and then my Mother while they were home on hospice. I helped with laundry, dishes, showers, toileting & diapers, taking on walks, light meal preparation, and companionship.

I have always been a very caring person. In junior high I volunteered to work with handicapped children. My major in college was social work. I loved (and do love) every minute of being a mother. I volunteered in both my daughter's pre-school and elementary school. I later got my medical assisting certification. The idea of being a companion came out of helping someone I knew who became ill. Without someone to help her, there were many things she would not have been able to get done. If I needed help I would want someone caring and kind to make my life easier and fun, and I think I can do that.
