I had a grandfather and a brother in law that were sick. I took care of them. After my dad passed away I decided I will be a caregiver because I know there many people out there that need care. Hi my name is Shannon and I feel the act of caregiving is an honor. It's a great way to respect our elders. I've had Alzheimer's patients and dementia patients. I like to assist my dementia patients by reading to them or we'd listening to music. I think it's best to always just following their lead . My previous family mother lost her battle with cancer. But this particular client was special. She was a civil rights leader. She shared such awesome stories. And on the days where her illness just took over I was there to hold her hand and make sure she had everything she needed to be comfortable.

What makes me a great caregiver is my genuinely love to help and be there. I don't work this field for a paycheck. I love working this field because its who I am. What attracted me to this position as a caregiver was my grandmother. I have always taken care of her and it always made her happy. I never treated her or any of my patients as work. I genuinely loved them all and cared and treated them and looked at them as my extended family. My personality traits are huge personality, very silly when around loved ones or anytime someone is down. I can always make someone who's down smile. I have a very huge heart. I enjoy everything about being a caregiver. Each day of just knowing I've helped someone with each day in there life to make it easier any way that I can is the best feeling. Knowing that I made someone smile and i can help someone in the way is needed without feeling like they cant do it is the best feeling.

My name is Arlette, My journey working with seniors started when I cared for my grandmother when she needed the help about 10 years ago. After that I noticed I enjoyed caring for the elderly and spending time with them. I love listening to their stories and learning from their experiences. I see them and treat them as my family. I like to help them get the best quality of life under their circumstances. I feel a sense of accomplishment every time it's time for me to leave their house and they have a smile on their faces. That lets me know they are happy and feel safe under my care. I have worked with people suffering from different illness like: Alzheimer's and dementia, cancer, hospice, C Diff. I like to have a good and close relationship with my client's families and work together with them. I can provide letters of recommendation if they are needed.
