I lived in 24/7 and got a relieving care giver on my day off and provided compassionate daily care for an 80 years old quadriplegic female client for four and half years which included personal hygiene, dressing, feeding and skin integrity management. Assisted with mobility transfers with use of sliding board, hoyer lift to wheelchair, commode, shower chair and back to bed, repositioning and range of motion exercises, respiratory excercise, medication administration, quality time to play scrabble games, watch tv / movies, listen to church sermons/ music, walks to boost her mood and emotional well being fostering a supportive and joyful environment. Managed catheter and bowel care, meal preparation, housekeeping & laundary, ensured safe & clean work equipment/ surrounding, ensured proper handwashing and prevention of infection, proper documentation of care, coordinated with therapists and family members to track progress and adjust care plan, listened actively with empathy for complex needs. MY ACHIEVEMENTS: - Prevented bed sores throughout 4 and half years of compassionate care keeping her skin healthy and comfortable right up until her passing. Skilled in mobility assistance, fall prevention home safety assessment, created engaging activity program ( walks, music games that boosted mood and social interaction. In bringing patience, humor and a listening ear to everyday, I was able to make each moment feel valued and respected.
