With becoming a caregiver, I had just finished my first semester of R.N. school when my mom and first husband both died of cancer (25 days apart) and I was needed to care for my father as his grieving made him unable to care for himself. I then, to assist me with my own grief, started to help care for others, first with hospice, then went on to caregiving for people in their homes. I love caregiving because helping people (especially older folks) brings joy and comfort to me. The trust that clients and families give to me is humbling and rewarding. Again, working with clients who have Alzheimer's takes a special place in my heart, but I love helping anyone in need.
