About Guadalupe

What makes me a great caregiver is that I always maintain resident's comfort and safety. I follow all department policies and procedures such as safety, environmental, and infection control standards. When I was young I would visit the facility I work in now and I always enjoyed going because I saw their joy when they would get visits or when having company. My grandfather was someone who needed someone like a CNA. I would help my grandmother when she would help him with his activities of daily living and that encouraged me to become a caregiver and help those in need. What I enjoy most is keeping them safe and being with the resident. I don't only do my job but I also provide them company when it's my free time. I like listening to their stories and letting them know that I am always there for them. I am proud of always being so sure of wanting to work as a caregiver. I starting my CNA classes in high school and once I was able to take my exam I took the opportunity to do so. Once I received my certification I made sure to apply right away at the nursing home I would do community service. I've been there four years strong as a CNA and still enjoy what I do as if it was the first time starting my career.

I assist residents with their activities of daily living such as handing out their meals and when needed I assist them with feeding. I hand out their snacks, serve them clean water to keep them hydrated. My daily routine is to help them ambulate, transfer them to their wheelchair, their bed, to the toilet and any place that is needed. Every two hours or if possible sooner, I make sure to reposition them. With their personal higiene I assist them with giving the resident a shower or a bed bath. I also make sure to keep their skin hydrated and keep them clean at all times.
