I became a caregiver at the age of 19 when my mother-in-law came down with Lou Gehrig's disease I quit my job in Orange county and moved to Riverside county to take care of her I learned about hospice through the social workers that were coming to her house and I saw the need of health care for her when she couldn't get any kind of in home health care at that time in the 80s there was no IHSS or any kind of help except for maybe 2 hours a day and she needed 24 hours care when she passed away our whole church grieved in the social worker her husband was a pastor of the church that I started to go to we all took classes at Loma Linda University hospital for hospice I went forward and start to become a CNA and convalescent hospitals for Alzheimer's and dementia patients I worked in numerous convalescent hospitals private duty homes and as well as my family members who all had some form of ALS including my husband who just recently passed away I took a short hiatus for 10 years and came back to nursing and just recently graduated CNA again and I plan on furthering my career back to LVN and RN in the future I'm a grandmother now I am strong and fit and healthy honest I do not use drugs or alcohol I'm a god-fearing woman and I believe my calling is to come back and to take care of people the way that I would want to be taken care of I know all ranges in types of care I even cook and I clean I have my food handlers card I am a chef privately for people who need holistic cooking I even cook vegan I am a Jackie of all trades when it comes to health Care and nursing in caregiving but most of all I love and I'm patient and I'm kind and I'm giving and I enjoy doing it thank you for your time
