I have a genuine interest in caring for others and their needs. I enjoy hearing about the lives that my clients have led and allowing them to talk about whatever their interest may be and definitely do not mind hearing the same story over and over, I think those stories are ones that may be significant to them, and will gladly hear it again. I am patient, empathetic, and understanding with my clients. Initially what attracted me to being a caregiver was being able to meet and be apart of someone's journey while offering compassionate care. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is that I am able to assist another when they may not be able to do for themselves. I was able to care for my mother while she went through cancer treatments and up until she passed. I realized we don't only care for our loved ones by providing physical care, it is more than that. While she was going through many changes and facing obstacles I grew an understanding in my approach in caring for her. At times I was physically caring for her by bathing, grooming and dressing and other days I was there to offer emotional support, or words of encouragement as she struggled through her own illness. I see my clients in this sense. I may not be going through what they are, but I can empathize and sympathize with them. I am most proud of being able to care for my Mother while she was going through the most difficult time in her life and being able to provide care in any way she needed it.
