Hello there, In 2015, after care giving for both of my parents at the end of their lives, I felt a call to go back to school and get training in nursing. I received my Certification as a Nursing Assistant along with CPR certification both from the Red Cross. I interned at a skilled nursing facility called Asbury Park and then later helped open the memory care unit at Atria Covell Gardens, in Davis California as a full time care giver and medication technician. This was truly the hardest, but most fulfilling work I had ever done. The ratio of resident to caregiver was too high in my opinion, however, and soon I was offered a position in sales, for a company called Senior Transition Services, that helped seniors sell there homes and move into assisted living facilities. After a while, I truly missed working one on one in a care giving role with the seniors I truly enjoyed. I soon found a personal care giving position with a lady in her home, with dementia. That job ended and I am now again searching for the right fit to care for another senior that needs some help in his/her home. I enjoy cooking, and my friends, family, and clients have all told me I am talented at it. I keep my clients well fed, well groomed, and their living environment clean and organized as much as they will allow me to. (I have ways to persuade them) I am kind, respectful, patient, helpful and have training and skills in dementia and Alzheimer's disease. I enjoy dancing, singing, going on walks, and doing puzzles and games with my senior friends. I also encourage them to exercise or find something extracurricular that they enjoy, like a class at the senior center or playing cards with friends. I am also a massage therapist and have done that professionally on and off for 30 years. Many senior have aches and pains , such as arthritis and I don't mind massaging their hands or feet if they are aching. I look forward to meeting you and seeing if we may work together soon.
Caregivers that work non-full-time jobs or irregular shifts can negotiate extra compensation in addition to their standard hourly wage.
