Hi there. My name is Barbara. I started working as a caregiver back in 1996. I began as a family caregiver when my ex husband's aunt Cathy was diagnosed with Colon cancer. She was a Registered Nurse before getting sick. She was my supervisor in our local nursing facility. She also taught me all that I know about how to perform my job in a respectable manner. I spent every day off from my job to care for her. Three weeks later we found out that her sister (my mother in law) was diagnosed with cancer as well. They passed away withing one month of each other. From then on I knew that The healthcare field was the right fit for me. I enjoy taking care of the elderly. I enjoy the hands on approach to assisting each patient with their daily care activities. I am dependable as well as compassionate. I understand the importance of letting each patient maintain their independence and dignity. I have worked with an array of different medical needs. Everything from Alzheimer's to Dementia, all the way to Traumatic Brain Injury patients. I have helped to rehabilitate and assist each patient with their independence. Being a caregiver is at times demanding and challenging, but I find it to be more rewarding. What sets me apart from all the other caregivers is that I go the extra mile to assure that my patients are cared for and I treat each person as an individual with their own tboughts and feelings. They are not just a paycheck. I genuinely enjoy what I do. If you hire me to care for your family, I can assure that you will leave the room in peace knowing that your loved one is being cared for in a positive way. I will always do my best to connect with my patients. I can honestly say that I have the experience and patience to lovingly care for your family.
