I enjoy listening to people and caring for them. I want them to be comfortable and as happy as they can be for the situation. I want to give them the attention, care and dignity they deserve. Spending time listening and sharing conversations - while also doing my job of making sure they are eating, drinking, exercising. Etc. I never thought about being a caregiver - it just happened and I am glad it did because I enjoy it. I work to increase their state of mind (happy, smile and laugh)- I know this time of their life is tough and I want to help them find some enjoyment and comfort to embrace each day.

I have worked as a care Provider for 14 years with the elderly.I enjoy the work because it is rewarding and also challenging, you get out of it what you put into it,you have to love the elderly first of all,you must be very patient and understanding, but most of all it takes alot of compassion. You are dealing with people, who have put into society, who have finally come to a point in their lives where they are in need of our help,to take care of them, and to let them know that they still do make a difference and are very important in society. We can learn a great deal from these people, they have alot to teach us with there wisdom. And when you are dealing with the elderly, you are dealing with their illness also, and thats whats very important.
