I have been caring for Seniors for more than 12 years now. I am an Exercise Physiologist by trade and have experience with most of the diseases that the elderly population suffers from. I am CPR and First Aid certified. I became a caregiver as one of my acquaintances needed some assistance with chores, transportation, odd jobs, etc and we soon became the best of friends, she told others and my experience grew from there. I have been working in the medical field for 30 years from Nursing Assistant to Physical Therapy Aide, Orthopedic Technician and Exercise Physiologist. I can do breathing treatments, administer medicines, take blood pressures and blood sugars. I have done everything from bathing, cooking, cleaning, watering plants, shopping, taking patients to appointments, helping with finances, transferring patients, exercise instruction and the teaching of many special populations classes. I am patient, caring, kind, friendly, honest and knowledgeable. I love being around people, especially seniors. They have so much to offer us. A personal achievement I am proud of other than gaining the trust and befriending all of the people I have helped in the past, would be the way the family of one of my last clients raved about my helping them get through the last days of being with their loved one. Outside of raising six children, I've been a care giver for 26 years. I worked in children's ministry at a church four times a week for 18 years. I took care of my dad when he was dying from cancer. I served my Neighbor meals twice a day for several years. When he came down with cancer, his daughter hired me to take care of him while he was dying at the age of 96. In September 2019 I became companion caregiver to a 90 year-old man that has dementia. I really enjoy this type of work because I get to be part of giving a person a great quality life for him to enjoy! My number one priority is to keep him safe and healthy! I take him to museums, back Bay for a picnic/walks, park picnic/walk, and or a walk around the neighborhood. I stimulate his mind with crossword puzzles, we play together because sometimes he can get lost in the puzzle. Or sometimes we play cards. I encourage and assist him in do his daily exercises because he lose track of what he's doing. My number one goal is to give a good quality life to senior citizens because they deserve it!
