I have begun Caregiving, since struggling with my teaching jobs, due to vocal cord issues and needed to find a new job description. I felt Caregiving would work great, since I wouldn't be straining my vocal cords, using my "teacher's voice". Additionally, I've come to realize, that Caregiving offers "rewards", similar to that of caring for the students I had taught, over the years- which has a lot to do with what I like about Caregiving: I enjoy sharing, caring and having fun with people. I take pleasure in helping and encouraging people, and engaging in enjoyable, meaningful activities-regardless of individual challenges. My personal achievement I am proud of, is more of a "potpourri" of character qualities, which I feel I have become quite efficient in: being very patient; excellent personal/communication/interaction skills (with all ages); can think quickly (& "out of the box"), to redirect student/patient behaviors with "TLC", dignity and respect. I have come to find that I can apply various "teaching" techniques, strategies and modified activities, to a Caregiving environment-making adjustments to different needs, as well as have a pretty good judgment, as to what will work for an individual in a particular situation (& having a plan B & C).
