Providing personal care services to seniors has become my mission in life. The patients I have cared for have had many different kinds of illnesses and impairments, including Parkinson’s Syndrome, Alzheimer’s, dementia, diabetes, cancer, blindness, and recovery from open heart surgery. I have carried out instructions given by my patient’s medical specialists to monitor vital signs, give medications, change catheters, bandages and dressings and maintain my patient’s personal hygiene. Sometimes this required me to train family members in the care of their loved one. It has also been necessary for me to transport patients by wheelchair and walker and in his or her car, and prepare meals, clean house, wash clothes and communicate with family members. For hospice patients, when the time comes, I have coordinated care with hospice nurses, and distant relatives so the patient is comfortable and feels cared for until the end comes. On occasion I have met with the mortuary representatives to inform them about my patient's final wishes.What I like about being a caregiver are the challenges that i deal with. My personal and greatest achievement in life is when i brought my three daughters in U.S. I enjoy meeting new people,new clients, and i love out doors activities such as gardening, fishing, hiking, traveling with my kids, I love to cook, eat, and watch movies with my kids,we go to hear mass every Sunday.
