My name is Jazmyne Brooks. I am 28 years of age. When I was 11 years of age my mother became sick and was diagnosed with Renal failure and had to start dialysis treatments. From the age of 13, I had to take over doing the household chores and responsibilities as far as cooking and cleaning. My mother was constantly in and out of the hospital, and there were lots of nurses that didn't pay attention to their duties. So my mother started to teach me about the different machines she was hooked up to that way I can know what they are there for. Over the years I have continued to take care of my mother, and I treat each patient that are in my care as if they are my mother or father. I think if it this way, once upon a time, each individual was able to do for themselves. Had a family, homes, sacred things, different items or prized possessions that they had to let go of. They no longer live the life they once lived. It is up to me to make sure they are comfortable and act as a companion because most may not have one. I am dedicated, compassionate, and both sympathetic & empathetic . It is my duty as a caregiver to make sure that they live their best life. (At least what we can make it). I currently have my CNA License.
