I believe my academic accomplishments, and work experience in a clinical setting have provided me with the credentials needed to thrive as a Registered Nurse and a caregiver. I have had the privilege of working as a care-giver, for a stroke patient, while I completed my studies at College of Marin. As a care-giver I learned the value of the professional skills that come with assisted living, and rehab routines. At the skilled nursing facility (Marin Post Acute Center) I was in charged of taking care of patients that were discharged from acute care centers and needed to undergo rehab before being able to go back home. Most of the patients I cared for at Marin Post Acute Center, were unstable and needed great care in adjusting their medications and daily routines in order to improve their recovery time. I worked closely with medical directors to ensure unstable patients did not have to end up back at the acute care setting and their health was not declining while in rehab. Before entering nursing school I worked as a surgical recovery technician, for the organ procurement organization One Legacy. As a surgical recovery technician, in order to properly perform aseptic surgical recoveries of tissues, I became well acquainted with infectious control principles and practices--such skills were put to great use in unprecedented times of COVID-19.
