I am a great caregiver because I am a very caring, dependable, responsible and trustworthy individual who enjoys what I have chosen to do in life. I am a great caregiver because my patients depend on me and I am going to do my best by caring for them just like if they were my favorite family member - my mom whom I loved dearly. Most of all, I show my patients respect and dignity and in return, they give it right back to me with a smile that says “Thank you”. 1. Why did you become a caregiver? I became a caregiver because my mom had a stroke and brain tumor and after being in the hospital, the doct ors suggested that she go to a skilled nursing home. After about two visits, I decided that there has to be a better way. I was willing to give it a try and I have been enjoying it for over thirty years. 2. What do you like about being a caregiver? I like being able to help and assist those that need help and I enjoy listening to the different life stories. I enjoy hearing them talk about themselves and their families and to hear them laugh and watch them smile. 3. What is a personal achievement you are proud of? When people that know me and don’t know me tell me that I take my job very seriously and that they see that I enjoy what I’m doing.
