Caregiver for client with Huntington's disease in senior independent living apartment, in La Jolla. Requires full assistance walking, meals, bathing, medications, safety precautions, communication with managing RN, agency and family. Meal prep includes puree all foods, liquids thickened, supplements added to protein smoothies. Sitting positioning must be at 45 degrees for prevention of aspiration. Ambulation requires using walker with assistance and close observation of gait stability. Bathing requires shower with full assistance or occasional bed bath. Medications must be crushed, swallowed with apple sauce or ice cream. Safety precautions include hospital bed with bars elevated at all times for fall prevention. Text and call managing nurse with daily report of intake and output, mental status or any questions. Frequent inventory of supplies. Companionship, lot of compassion and making sure client is comfortable and happy. Light housekeeping. Requires walking in hallway with walker, with constant observation of gait stability.
