About Martha

I come from a family of caregivers. I started early on in life, first assisting my grandmother who had both legs amputated (due to diabetes). She was unable to do many day to day life skills. I later assisted family and friends and eventually others in the community. I am a patient person and work with the individuals in my care. It is always my intention of listening to what my assigned client has in mind and what is in their best interest. I enjoy assisting those in need, and often times reaching their goals of becoming independent or accomplishing a set goal. I am most proud of assisting a client whose diabetes became unmanageable (blood sugars were above 400!). I worked with her on changing her approach to food. I taught her how to portion her food and include snacks in-between meals. After more than a year her blood sugar levels were reduced to 120-140. Her weight was reduced from a 3x to size 18. I was so proud of her.
