I am the grandaughter of a woman who owned a nursing home when I was young. I used to visit that grandmother and loved talking with the patients that were under her care. It was then that I began to feel an affinity for the elderly. I began caregiving by taking care of that grandmother in 1989 and from there worked in facilities and in the home for the next three decades; the highpoint of my career being an 11-month extended period wherein I took personal care of my mother and her estate. I have completed prerequisites for a local LVN program as well as prerequisites for another RN program and was accepted into said LVN program; but my mother was too ill for me to complete that program. After mom passed away, I chose to serve a mission for the Lord. I love the companionship of the elderly. They always seem to offer great learning experiences from earlier times and most often than not teach me kindness through their warmth and need. Thank-you.
