About Charlotte

Hello! When I was 18 years old I attended a Medical Assistant program and passed with flying colors, after I graduated I was hired on at an Intermediate Care Facility for adults with disabilities. This place is called Woodland Residential Services and is located in Woodland, CA. I worked there for under four years - In my time there I handled hygiene, bathing, meal prep, transfers, medication, gastrointestinal tubes, seizure activity and catheters. I was eventually promoted to Lead Care Staff and was responsible for training new employees. A short while later, I was hired on as a Direct Care Staff for United Cerebral Palsy. I worked at the Day Program in Thousand Oaks. I absolutely loved my job and thrived there for a little under a year before the commute became too much. While there I was tasked with transfers, hygiene, meal assistance, computer assistance. I worked in tandem with the Physical Education, Art, and Computer programs. I learned a lot about adaptive devices among many other things. This job also gave me many opportunities with catheters, gastrointestinal tunes, and seizure activity as well as multiple other health needs. Currently, I work at Aegis Assisted Living. I work in the Memory Care parts of the building taking care of adults with Alzheimer's or Dementia. I work the NOC shift from 10:30pm-6:30am. As a NOC shift I basically work independently to manage the nightly care of 20+ residents. As of right now, for education, I'm working towards getting my BSN. I hope to transfer to CSUCI in a few years to become a Registered Nurse.

Being a Caregiver is really natural for me. I have 3 years of CNA work experience . That was my first job after H.S and loved it! I did take a Medical Assistant course after that and have been in that position for about 15 years. I missed being able to have a more closer relationship with people and being a Caregiver I get to do just that and more.
