Hi I'm Destiny, for starters I always have had a passion for giving back to those in need especially senior citizens that once were young, hardworking and now have aged and are in need of some TLC. A part of life is aging and in the later years people experience loss of who they are when they are no longer able to do the things they always have done- I love to be the one to remind them and show them they still are that person. I love to encourage independence when possible and enrich the spirit of who these people still are despite whatever losses they may have indured and deal with daily. A personal achievement I am proud of is being offered the supervisor position at my current job, as I'm only 21 I feel that it shows how much I have grown as a care giver and shows the potential people I work for see in me. I am very understanding, caring, calm and patient, I believe these are all very important traits to have when working in this field.

My job while working at Sunrise has consisted of helping very many individuals that deal with many different challenges. I have had the pleasure of working with more people than I could count, patients that are fully independent and just need companionship, patients that require full assistance being completely immobile such as being paralyzed, people that have beginning to end stage Alzheimer's/ dementia. I start my days by showering multiple people and assisting other people with transferring to wheelchairs or walkers and helping them get ready for the day. I help prepare there meals - some I have to assist with feeding others are independent in that area. I play puzzles, listen to music, read the paper with them. I sometimes escort residents to and from doctors appointments. I have the knowledge on how to use gait belts, mechanical lifts such as full lifts and sit to stands, I also can assist with pivot transfers without equipment. Along with doing all this I grow relationships and try my best to brighten everyone's day that I work with and make them feel cared for and important because they are.
